In 2004, the Dance Company Parent Association created the "Rising
Star Scholarship" program to recognize and encourage outstanding students who
were not members of the performing Dance Company.
Under
a procedure developed by the DCPA, scholarship nominations were sought from all
teachers, student teachers and teaching assistants. The teaching faculty
was then asked to review all finalists to determine those students who
consistently exhibit outstanding attitude, effort and potential.
Announced at the year-end recital, each
scholarship winner received a plaque plus a $250 tuition stipend to enable them
to continue their dance education at Chris Collins Dance Studio. To date,
$2,250 in dance scholarships have been awarded.
"We are extremely proud of these young and
talented students," said studio Director Chris Collins. "Each possesses
the qualities necessary to become an outstanding dancer, and together they
represent a bright future for our studio."
Because of the success of the Rising Star
Scholarship program, the DCPA voted to make it an ongoing fixture at the studio
and dedicated 100% of all proceeds from "The
Dance Button Project" to provide the necessary funding.
Once again at Showtime 2007, three
promising young dancers who exhibit outstanding attitude, effort and potential will be awarded $250
"Rising Star Scholarships."
The Dance Company Parent Association and the
Chris Collins Dance Studio congratulate our past scholarship recipients and encourage
everyone to keep reaching for the stars!
